The man behind the microphone known as MYSELF has just released his new critical acclaimed album "Protest in Disguise" on (Couture Music Wear). New Orleans native & New York city transplant MYSELF pushes the creative envelope to the outer limits on his new album. The record was recorded at The Legendary Chung King Studios NYC (Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, Nas & many many others). Protest in Disguise" combines the social/political-conscious energy of a Public Enemy / Rage Against The Machine record. The album starts off with a blazing hot funky street anthem "Keep the fire burnin'" and half way through it blends roots rock, hip hop, soul, and jazz like not too many albums been able to accomplish! The album is receiving airplay on college and internet radio stations. A Protest tour is in the works for later this year. MYSELF has worked, toured and collaborated with industry notables such as DJ Logic, Dead Prez, The Meters, Rebirth Brass Band, Incubus, Arrested Development, Dr. Israel and a slew of other great artists! |

A Protest tour is in the works for later this year. MYSELF has worked, toured and collaborated with industry notables such as DJ Logic, Dead Prez, The Meters, Rebirth Brass Band, Incubus, Arrested Development, Dr. Israel and a slew of other great artists!
Groundbreaking new artist MYSELF's two new digital singles "God Is So Funky" & "Where We Going?" appear on his critically acclaimed video and debut album, ”Protest In Disguise". Interestingly, "God Is So Funky" tracks at 3:16...hmm...wonder what that means? The album was recorded at the legendary Chung King Studios, home of Super Producer Rick Rubin and such pioneering acts as Public Enemy, Run-DMC,LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys. "Protest in Disguise" will be released digitally in the USA via Slam Jamz (indie label of Hip Hop Icon CHUCK D.)MYSELF's album "Protest in Disguise" will be available worldwide Sept.07.
In addition to the album being released stateside the album will be released/ licensed simultaneously worldwide via MYSELF's own imprint Couture Music Wear. The project will be distributed in foreign territories such as China, Japan, Germany, France, and the UK among other countries. MYSELF recently made a special guest appearance along with HARRY BELAFONTE on Air America Radio (On The Real w/CHUCK D).The program is hosted by Chuck D and airs on Internet & Sirius Satellite Radio (over 100+ stations globally...reaching millions of listeners!)Be sure to check out MYSELF touring w/Grammy Winning act Arrested Development.
MYSELF will appear in the new Busta Rhymes/Tom Berenger/Sticky Fingaz film (Order of Redemption) produced by Dolger Films. Music lovers and colleagues alike have positive things to say about MYSELF'S work such as, "very strong conscious music... the ingredients missing in today's music says", Ali Shaheed Muhammed producer and member, A Tribe Called Quest. Acclaimed actor Danny Glover states, "I listen to MYSELF all the time... Since hearing him, I've introduced his music to my son and daughter”. Both Ali and Danny were exposed to MYSELF from the grassroots MYSELF musical movement.
